Location: Estuary House, 96-110 Eastern Avenue, Speke, Liverpool, L24 2TB

Rate Of Pay: £37,000 Per Annum pro rata (0.5 WTE £18,500).

Shift Patterns: Part Time, Permanent (0.5FTE)

Information about the Role:

Working as a Speech and Language Therapist at Estuary House your duties will include the following:

  • To provide a speech and language (SLT) assessment, advice and treatment of service.
  • To work compassionately with service users and carers to achieve identified goals and to promote independence and well-being, within a person-centred framework.
  • To manage a defined caseload of patients, responding to referrals.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the SLT service within a designated team.
  • To provide expertise in dysphagia and communication and to offer advice and consultation on clients care to other members of the team and external agencies.
  • To work within the professional practice and Plans4Rehab guidelines.
  • To work and act as a key member of the team, supporting each patient in the achievement of their planned outcomes and goals.
  • As Speech and Language therapist within the service, you would be working as part of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary team including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language and clinical psychologist, with medical input.

Information about the Service:

Estuary House provides specialist treatment & care for people with a wide range of mental health conditions, dementia and neurological conditions. We have 41 beds and we offer full nursing care for any associated physical health issues or complex care requirements an individual may have.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Speech and Language Therapist:

  • Diploma / Degree in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Current Registration Certificate with HCPC.
  • Member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Very good computer literacy skills, i.e. PPT, Excel, Word. Able to use Telehealth platforms such as MS teams, Zoom.
  • Some knowledge and understanding of possible diagnoses within the service (e.g. Stroke, ABI, TBI )
  • Good understanding of core Speech and Language Therapy skills and current best practice in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Knowledge of standard assessment and intervention approaches within client group
  • Experience of MDT working.
  • Evidence of ability to take the lead in own CPD, maintaining log, actively seeking this out.
  • Evidence of post graduate CPD experience. E.g reading, webinars.
  • Experience of participation in MDT working.
  • Awareness of need for evaluation of interventions using evidence-based and client-centred practice
  • Ability to explain the importance of supported communication to care workers, families , MDT.
