Shift Patterns: Full time or Part Time roles, days and nights

Information about the Role:

Working as a Support Worker at Denison House your duties will include the following:

  • Providing physical support which may include helping with household tasks and personal care.
  • Providing emotional support for an individual and at times their families.
  • Maintain the hygiene, dignity, health and safety of service users at all times.
  • Encouraging and supporting the development of personal skills through hobbies and interests.
  • Teaching life skills, such as shopping, using public transport and paying for bills.
  • Working with other healthcare professionals to ensure that all care needs meet the highest possible standards.
  • Assist in the design and administration of an evaluation of the care standards and care service provision.
  • If applicable, assist in the administration of medication.

Information about the Service:

Denison House is a wheelchair accessible home in a lovely residential area in Selby. We are a vibrant and spacious, dementia friendly care home and can support up to 31 individuals.

We have 15 ensuite bedrooms, several accessible bathrooms alongside a lift and ramp to assist with movement throughout our home. Some of our ground floor rooms have patio doors leading onto our garden and patio areas.

We work closely with the people we support, the people who are important to them and our local care teams to ensure the people we support at Denison House live well.

Our staff are experienced to support individuals 24 hours a day, in a safe way and we have lots of experience of supporting people who live with the early symptoms of Dementia.

Necessary Experience or Qualifications to work as a Support worker:

  • No experience needed for this role as full training will be provided.
  • However previous experience working as a Support Worker, Healthcare Assistant, Domiciliary Carer or Senior preferred.
  • Caring, kind and considerate.
  • Passionate about making a difference in someone else’s life.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able handle sometimes challenging situations.
  • Fun, energetic and able to build relationships with many different people.
