HR Manager who has a good generalist background required to manage the Human Resources Department with the support of an HR Assistant for a company that has around 70 permanent employees based in Coventry, West Midlands.

SALARY: £44,000 - £50,000 pro rata (Actual Salary for 20 Hours per Week is: £22,000 - £25,000 per annum) + Monthly Bonus + Benefits (see below)

LOCATION: Hybrid split between working from home and the office in Coventry, West Midlands

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for an HR Managerwho has a good generalist background to manage the Human Resources Department with the support of an HR Assistant.

This is a Generalist Human Resources role and as the HR Manager for this SME you will manage all HR functions for the business, working closely alongside the Company Directors.

As the HR Manager you will be supported by a part-time HR Assistant and you will need sound knowledge of UK Employment Law, be highly organised, with the ability to communicate at all levels.

DUTIES

Your duties as the HR Manager include:

  • Manage the part-time HR Assistant
  • Recruitment of new staff, advertising, selection and interviewing at first stage, shortlisting for 2nd interviews
  • Contracts - manage offer letters and statements of T&Cs for new and existing staff
  • Request references and photo ID for new staff
  • Ensure new employees have the right to work in the UK and maintain records
  • Deliver induction to new employees
  • Maintain staff structure in SharePoint
  • Manage all aspects of Kronos (staff portal)
  • Update staff handbook appropriately, in line with company and employment law changes
  • Maintain up-to-date job descriptions for existing and new roles
  • Manage payroll changes for new staff, leavers and salary adjustments, liaising with payroll administrator to ensure accurate completion monthly
  • Check and sign off payroll monthly and liaise with Dutch payroll agency
  • Identify anomalies in pay for individuals and make any recommendations
  • Produce Employee Benefits Annual Statement
  • Manage annual appraisal process, training managers and team leaders as necessary
  • Manage and document all disciplinary issues appropriately and fairly, protecting the company
  • Conduct / Note-take all investigatory and disciplinary hearings
  • Submit monthly HR report for the SMT pack and attend SMT monthly meetings
  • Minute actions and attend both Monthly Management Meetings and Strategy Days
  • Write/Collate quarterly Group Newsletter and send to all staff
  • Manage staff training, identifying cost effective solutions, book training and payment
  • Ensure that sufficient H&S training is conducted (first aid, fire, Coshh etc)
  • Organise Christmas party and other social functions/ lunches
  • Appraise Directors of any staff issues on a timely basis when necessary
  • Maintain HR records for current and previous staff, adhering to GDPR requirements
  • Keep up to date with current employment law legislation, attend relevant law seminars
  • Keep up to date with HR trends to positively affect retention of staff and morale
  • Record and manage Director absence/sickness/holidays
  • Manage staff benefits and keep appropriate records
  • Manage occasional staff surveys, process, summarise results and follow up on any recommendations
  • Organise temporary staff if needed

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in this role, you will be required to demonstrate the following key skills:

  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law
  • Organised and efficient, able to prioritise tasks
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal, with people at all levels
  • Sound IT skills, using all Microsoft Office applications and Kronos (staff portal)
  • Demonstrate diplomacy and discretion, dealing with confidential information
  • Sound people skills
  • Demonstrable 'firm but fair’ attitude and empathy
  • Ability to train and mentor others
