Part-Time Finance Manager key role

You’ll report into the Managing Director who’s accountable for growing revenue, managing spending, and running a profitable business. You’ll liaise with the external accountants on payroll, pension contributions, VAT and tax returns as well as Year-end.

Your key skills & working within the Company

You’ll need to be highly numerate, have great attention to detail, be responsive and proactive, be a team player, curious and flexible (as your hours will probably fit around other commitments), collaborative (as you'll be working with the account management team) and their accountants as well as the MD and the broader team. You will love working with creative people in a creative environment. The Clients accountancy package is KashFlow now owned by Xero so it would be great if you had exposure but not essential.

They undertake hybrid working, but you must be in for meetings that benefit from face-to-face interaction, and company-wide days. These happen every other month and are vital to the success of the business.

Responsibilities of the Part-Time Finance Manager

  • Financial reporting - Month end management accounts and cashflow report
  • Payroll - Liaise with external accountants Check, pay and post - undertake all necessary posting, journals and reconciliations including PAYE and NI
  • Manage Sales Ledger - Liaise with Account management, using synergist support by raising all sales invoices and manage the costs on the job. Reconcile Debtors ledger and chase all debtors, Upload onto client portals, manage deferred income and WIP, set up new clients.
  • Manage Purchase Ledger, check all purchase invoices reconcile to statements, select items for payment runs, Check VAT, Pay suppliers.
  • Bookkeeping - Post all necessary journals and undertake month end reconciliation of the balance sheet, Undertake monthly accruals and prepayments, Fixed asset register.
  • Manage expenses
  • Banking - undertake all postings and reconcile, produce the cash flow forecast.
  • VAT - Prepare & submit VAT returns, post Journals.
  • Company Tax - Track and pay corporation tax, PAYE & NI.
  • Liaise with accountants on ad hoc matters.
  • Liaise with Companies House
  • Ad Hoc - Make sure all things like Insurances are in place, make sure GDPR subs up to date.

The Candidate Necessities

  • You will have exposure to working in an SME creative agency.
  • You will want to engage in the client business.
  • You must be numerate with great attention to detail.
  • You must have worked in a similar sole role capacity previously and happy with part time.
  • You’ll have good excel skills and ideally Kashflow
  • You’ll have great communication skills throughout the business both written and spoken.
