Heritage Teacher

Berry recruitment are currently looking for a heritage teacher to work on an ongoing basis for a local council based in Peterborough. This role will be on an annualised hours contract, to work 198 hours a year, with an hourly pay of £15.

Within this role you will be preparing and leading education school sessions, contributing to the development of the Heritage Education Programme and representing and leading outreach learning sessions across Peterborough Schools.

Responsibilities

· To deliver existing and new sessions, events and activities as set out by the Learning Co-ordinator.

· To contribute to regular review the learning programme - including research, preparation and evaluation

· To undertake research in a chosen related field - for example, history of medicine, Roman Peterborough, local social history to contribute to the growth of the education offer

· To teach school sessions in accordance with the National Curriculum and the learning objectives as set out by the school, whilst always maintaining H&S, safeguarding and confidentiality policies.

· To inspire learning are delivered and to ensure access to all children of all abilities and ages whilst supporting volunteers and new members of staff, including trainee teaching staff

· To provide lead supervision of small and medium groups of up to 60 children and adults

Requirements

· Working within a school and/or heritage site environment

· Working with school aged children within 1 or more key stages

· Experience of supporting Higher Order Thinking Skills in teaching

· Working with a range of internal and external support

· Experience of working to safeguarding procedures to protect children

· clear understanding of SEN knowledge

Essential:

English Language at GCSE (C or above) or equivalent

Educated to degree level, preferably with teaching qualification

Desirable:

History and/or English at A level

MA in specialist area relevant to role

SEN specialism / evidence of INSET or CPD for SEN.

Experience of working with children with special needs is desirable.

Drama experience would be desirable
