Finance Manager

We are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join our client an independent school based in Ascot. The Finance Manager will be involved in both the strategic and day to day financial direction of the School.

Finance Manager duties & responsibilities include:

  • Responsibility to the Bursar for the efficient day to day running of the school's accounts.
  • Monthly control account reconciliation together with allocation of expense/nominal ledger codes to correct cost centres.
  • Carry out a formal weekly bank and monthly petty cash reconciliations.
  • Responsible for monthly and annual accrual and prepayments.
  • Ensuring that all routine and appropriate financial discipline routines are in place and executed.
  • Management Accounts, Forecasts and Budgets
  • Statutory Accounts and audit
  • Manage the production of the termly school fees (Information collated by the Finance Assistant) and raise invoices for lettings on a monthly basis.
  • Assist the Bursar in the management of debtors in accordance with the published protocol.

The successful Finance Manager must be able to demonstrate the following criteria:

  • Have a formal accounting qualification with a proven and successful background in finance up to the preparation of the SOFA, or, as a minimum, to benefit from extensive accounting experience.
  • Strong administrative experience.
  • An ability to learn quickly and retain information.
  • Enthusiasm and a willingness to undertake relevant training and development, as required for the role.
  • Confident knowledge and demonstrable experience of Microsoft products, especially Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • High level of analytical and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and an ability to interpret legislation and guidance.
