The Role
As a Financial Reporting Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Reporting to the Head of Reporting, Control & Efficiency, the Financial Reporting & Control Manager is a key position within the Finance Business Services (FBS) department, with focus on the Corporate business sector.

Day to day, you'll be managing the on-going transition and movement of tasks into the team as we continue to develop the FBS function; all whilst leading and managing capable and motivated people in delivering a high-quality service across the Sectors:

  • Team management including objective setting, development plans, coaching and best practice.
  • Work with the wider team to deliver standardisation of finance policies & processes across Babcock Finance, strengthening financial controls and optimising efficiencies.
  • Responsible for oversight of financial governance and control, ensuring alignment to Accounting Standards and the Group's accounting policies and manuals across the Finance function, monitoring developments in IFRS and other GAAPs, to understand impact to the Group.
  • Completion of statutory accounts and other compliance reporting for Corporate entities, including corporate tax.

This role is a full-time position, that is contracted at 37.5 hours a week. The successful candidate can work compliantly from any Babcock site or location. There may be a requirement to attend meetings whether that is face to face or virtually.

Agile working may be available to employees in some instances, applying the principles of fairness and consistency whilst ensuring that the overriding business needs can be appropriately met. Essential Experience of the Financial Reporting Manager:

  • Audit background with strong experience of statutory accounts preparation.
  • Demonstrable experience of managing and developing a team within a Finance function.
  • Experience in reviewing and improving finance processes with a fresh perspective.
  • Technical finance skills, with proven ability to understand and interpret accounting principles (being able to explain technical accounting to non-technical, non-financial staff).
  • Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g., SAP, NAV (Navision, IFS, etc.).

Qualifications for the Financial Reporting Manager:

  • You must hold a recognised professional qualification (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CIMA, ICAEW, ICAS) or equivalent / similar.

The successful candidate must be able to achieve SC security clearance for this role.
