Part time Payroll Co-ordinator

The payroll coordinator is a key member of the school's finance team. The role involves processing pay data for the school's employees, updating payroll records and answering employee questions about payments. Attention to detail and strong numerical and analytical skills are essential. An understanding of the specific arrangements for teachers' pay structures and pensions as well as peripatetic co-curricular staff would be advantageous and therefore prior experience in a school environment is desirable

Your role as Payroll Co-ordinator will be to:

  • Complete payroll processing.
  • Understand and follow payroll procedures and payroll related forms.
  • Maintain and update all employee records on the payroll system.
  • Process compensations, deductions, and overtime claims for employees.
  • Handle benefit arrangements such as maternity pay, paid leave, insurance.
  • Process the various pensions schemes.
  • Deal with payroll queries from employees and escalate were necessary.
  • Manage relationships with an external payroll partner.
  • Manage Payroll internal inbox and provide information and updates to staff.
  • Collaborate with HR for new Starters, Leavers, and Changes.
  • Process the monthly payroll input sheet.
  • Produce reports for the Finance Manager to review.
  • Work with auditors, the Foundation, or external authorities to process data requests.

Experience and Skills required for the Payroll Co-ordinator's role:

  • Proven experience as a payroll coordinator and ideally in an educational setting
  • Good knowledge of legislation relevant to payroll, and educational payroll in particular.
  • Strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Comfortable with MS Excel and its analytical functions, also Word and Outlook.
  • Professional and diligent - takes pride in what they deliver.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to work without supervision.
  • Ability to work to set deadlines and prioritise accordingly.
  • Flexible with strong resilience- able to adjust in line with the dynamic business needs.
  • A team player with a good sense of humour, willingness, and enthusiasm.
