Acorn by Synergie is currently recruiting for a construction company based in Bridgwater who is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable individual to join their team as an Accountant. In the role, you will be responsible for the management of the finance function and will be a crucial member of our team. Our client is looking for someone who is hands-on, with a strong background in finance and a passion for the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the finance function, including a member of staff, to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
* Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
* Oversee the production of statutory and financial reports on Sage
* Manage TAX and VAT returns, ensuring compliance with regulations
* Prepare monthly journals and VAT returns
* Participate in the end to end accounting process, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
* Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting as requested by the management

Qualifications & Skills:
* Extensive experience in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry
* Strong knowledge of Sage accounting software
* Experience with TAX and VAT returns
* Excellent understanding of financial reporting and regulations
* Excellent time management and organisational skills
* Self-motivated and detail-oriented
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Hands-on approach with a can-do attitude
