Health Care Assistant - 24 hours per week contract / bank staff

Compton Houseis an independent, 25 bedded, not for profit nursing home in the heart of Lindfield village. We are rated Outstanding by the CQC and our staff tell us we are a great place to work too!

We have day and night shifts (or a mixture of both) available for Care Assistants to join our team in providing the quality care and service you would expect for your loved ones. Ideally we are seeking a care assistant for 24 hours a week on a permanent contract but we also have oppertunities to welcome Care Assistants to our bank team in a casual worker capacity.

MAIN PURPOSE:

To work with senior colleagues and promote through your Health Care role a stimulating and caring environment, to enhance the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual need of the residents. To ensure that each resident receives care appropriate to his/her needs and according to their Plan of Care. To work as part of the health care team in delivering personalised care to all residents. Reporting and liaising with NVQ3, NVQ2 Health Care Assistants and the Nurse in Charge.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • To deliver, assist and support other carers in delivering the residents daily plan of care
  • To enable residents to be as independent and lead as full a life as possible, encouraging and facilitating them to take part in activities if they so wish
  • To assist residents with all aspects of personal care as necessary, working under the guidance of more senior colleagues and Nurse in Charge
  • To help with caring for resident’s property, room and the property of the home
  • To promote continence and assist individuals in managing incontinence, in a dignified manner
  • To assist with the serving of meals, assisting residents to eat and drink where necessary and according to their plan of care, under the guidance of more senior colleagues and the Nurse in Charge. Always reporting any observations, changes or concerns to the Nurse in Charge
  • To promote good hydration by offering drinks of resident’s choice throughout the 24-hour day, encouraging independence and assisting as appropriate
  • To document, sign and date any care delivered to residents, and report any change in the resident’s physical, mental and emotional condition to the Nurse in Charge immediately
  • To assist in the care of residents as requested by more senior colleagues and undertake extra responsibilities as delegated by the nurse in charge if trained and competent to do so
  • To take care of equipment and report, document, sign and date any defects in the maintenance log book and also to the Nurse in Charge
  • Report any untoward incidents affecting residents, staff or visitors to the nurse in charge.All accidents must be recorded in line with our accident/incident procedure.
  • Review and reflect upon your own practice through participation in staff supervision and appraisal procedures.
  • Attend quarterly staff meetings.
  • Follow the Home’s policies, procedures and guidelines at all times.

Working Hours will include Easter, Christmas and other Holidays.
