Faculty / Directorate Home to four specialist schools - Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Nursing and Midwifery, and Leicester School of Pharmacy - the Faculty has a long tradition of providing high quality education and development to professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The dedicated facilities are designed to replicate current practice and feature industry-standard equipment, enabling staff and students to undertake life changing projects to improve health and social care. Role As a Laboratory Support Worker, you will part of the team responsible for the provision of cleaning services in the teaching laboratories and practice areas managed by the Faulty of Health and Life Sciences, maintaining a high standard of housekeeping within these areas. The working hours are 20 hours per week (10am - 2pm, Monday to Friday) for 35 weeks of the academic year, with 3 weeks off in Easter, 3 weeks off at Christmas and 11 weeks off during summer. Please note that the salary shown is the full time salary, therefore, the salary will be pro-ratad to reflect the part time, term time only nature of the role. The salary will be topped up to the real living wage of £10.90 per hour, meaning that the annual salary will be £7,630 per year. Main responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Washing (by both hand and machine) and drying of laboratory glassware and equipment; Cleaning work surfaces within the laboratories, preparation areas and practice suites; Returning glassware and equipment to designated sites; Cleaning of sinks in laboratories and preparation areas; Operation of laboratory washing machines and drying cabinets following clearly defined instructions; Following clearly defined instructions to ensure safe working and demonstrate good laboratory practice; Assisting with the removal of clinical and other waste to designated areas, following clearly defined instructions and other general housekeeping tasks. Ideal Candidate Firstly, you should be adept at handling delicate glassware and instruments safely. Additionally, the ability to handle and carry large or heavy required items and equipment is crucial for this role. As part of our team, you'll need to collaborate effectively, so strong teamwork skills are essential. However, you'll also be required to work independently, following clearly defined instructions meticulously.
