Salary: £58,000 - £70,000 per annum

As their Financial Controller, you will be a key part of our Finance team and report directly to the CFO. The role is crucial in overseeing all financial activities, ensuring UA92’s financial health and sustainability. You will lead a team which is responsible for managing their core month-end processes. This will include management and statutory accounts preparation, payroll, AP and AR. We are looking for somebody who can hit the ground running and own these processes but also help design and build their future finance function as they continue to grow the organisation.

The role will help ensure we are optimising financial resources, making informed strategic decisions and implementing robust financial processes and controls. Your ability to analyse financial data, provide insightful recommendations and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders will be vital in driving the institution towards continued growth and success.

  • Record to Report (Accounting)
  • Charity and Bursary payments
  • Manage a team of Finance Officers in support of these processes.
  • Ensure relevant regulations (eg HMRC, OFS etc) are adhered to with responsibility for making key filings.
  • Develop and maintain key policies and processes for all areas and ensure these are communicated and understood by relevant business stakeholders across UA92.
  • Primary point of contact for the audit team with responsibility for ensuring smooth running of the audit and annual reporting process.
  • Primary point of contact for external stakeholders where appropriate and where it relates to the Financial Control function (eg Payroll outsource providers, Systems providers, Banks etc)
  • Responsible for ensuring finance systems are fit for purpose and for managing access and security for finance systems.
  • Maintain a robust system of financial control across UA92.
  • Crucially, to help maintain UA92’s financial health and make sure the business utilises resources beneficially.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in financial management, accounting, or a related role, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK financial regulations, accounting principles and statutory reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis, and financial software/tools.
  • Experience of running transactional finance teams including AP, AR and Payroll.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to work collaboratively with teams outside of Finance.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing financial landscapes.
