We are looking for a dynamic, well-qualified and inspirational Teacher of Japanese who will stimulate students’ interest and enthusiasm in their study of Japanese at Level 1 and GCSE. 

Working within the English and Foreign Languages department, you will act as a single-teacher course and teach GCSE and Level 1 Certificate Japanese. We offer the Level 1 Certificate in Practical Japanese with SEG (Skills and Education Group) and GCSE Japanese with Pearson / Edexcel. Typically, students study the level 1 in year 1 and then about a quarter  progress to the GCSE course in year 2. In most years, we have approximately 80 students studying level 1, across 4 classes, and about 20 studying GCSE, usually in 1 or (occasionally) 2 groups. 

Within the department, we offer courses in various other languages, including A-levels in French, German and Spanish, and level 1 courses in Latin and Mandarin. The team is a vibrant and successful one (comprising 12 teachers who report to the Director of English and Foreign Languages) and we are looking for someone who is a team-player with a willingness to contribute to new initiatives, but also someone with the self-sufficiency, expertise and organisation to run the course as a solo teacher. We pride ourselves on the quality of teaching and learning, and the student-centred focus we have as a team. You will be well qualified to teach the course and must have a commitment to active and innovative teaching and learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
