The Company:
ER Recruitment is working with a local, respected charity who are recruiting for a Deputy Café Manager to deliver profitable, high-quality catering and hospitality services within the café for both public and private events.
Reporting into the Café Manager, the successful applicant will closely assist on the development of new products and menus alongside maintaining standards.

Role & Responsibilities of the Deputy Café Manager:

  • Assist the Café Manager in day to day delegation of tasks and people management.
  • Manage stock levels, rotation of stock, stock ordering and controlling food wastage.
  • Ensure that food is prepared, cooked and presented to agreed standard.
  • Ensure all food displays are clean, inviting and well stocked.
  • Assist in maintaining staffing budget as agreed in the business plan.
  • Responsible for cash handling and till systems.
  • Manage back of house related areas, to include goods in and out, all rubbish and related recycling, ensuring high standards of working practice, safety, and cleanliness at all times.
  • Display and promote the behaviours of excellent customer service at all times. Mentor the staff in how to give the best customer experience possible
  • Assist in recruitment and selection of permanent and bank staff in line with budgets and business levels. Support on inductions and onboarding.
  • Work across 2nd café site when required to support management cover.


About You as the Deputy Café Manager:

  • NVQ level 1 in hospitality & catering or higher, and/or professional cooking or proven experience within a customer facing role.
  • Health and Safety and L2 Food Hygiene or Equivalent.
  • Experience managing a team of people on a shift/team leader role.
  • Flexible in your approach and have the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Outstanding customer service.
  • Background in stock control and ordering.
  • Strong work ethic, passionate about the industry and solution focussed.
