Job Purpose

An opportunity has become available for a Qualified Actuary to join our BPA team.
This would suit a newly qualified Actuary who ideally has BPA experience.

Key Accountabilities
Oversight of a scheme through to Buy Out from a Data perspective for both our existing and future Bulk Annuity transactions.
• Provide direction and guidance to a team to ensure all actuarial principles are understood and followed in the completion of Data Verification (or other exercises).
• Checking and responding to internal and external technical queries with existing schemes and their advisors.
• Meeting with existing schemes to manage project plans to agreed timescales and quality.
Reviewing and approving calculations to premium top up and working across teams to agree approaches to make in methodologies.
• Improve the Data Verification process to increase efficiency and enhance customer outcomes at each stage of the process.
• Collaborative working across Canada Life to ensure efficient systems and process are in place.
• Ensure decisions taken with Customer focus, building relationships across the industry and supporting customer proposition from a pricing perspective.
• Adopt and consistently act in line with our Blueprint (behaviours and strategic drivers)

Desired Knowledge / Experience / Skills
• Strong technical skills and knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes and the legislative requirements of pension schemes.
• Comprehensive understanding of the UK regulatory environment.
• Able to build relationships and gain trust and respect at all levels with strong leadership skills
• Demonstrates personal drive, energy, persistence and self -motivation and awareness of the part played in the wider business.
• Strong communication skills (able to communicate technical and complex issues both verbally and in writing to senior audiences, including non-actuaries)
• Ability to apply actuarial techniques to business problems and to see wider implications.
