SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Leeds. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for supporting children with complex mental and physical disabilities. The successful candidate will have experience or qualifications in working with diverse types of special educational needs.

• Provide tailored support to children with a range of special educational needs and disabilities.
• Work closely with the teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs).
• Assist with the development of social skills and independence in students.
• Use a variety of strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement.
• Facilitate inclusive learning experiences for all students.
• Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
• Adapt resources to meet the needs of individual students.
• Support the physical needs of students as required, which may include lifting or assisting with mobility.

• Experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or relevant qualifications in special educational needs.
• Understanding of the challenges faced by children with mental and physical disabilities.
• Ability to work effectively with children with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, and physical disabilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy, and a positive, encouraging approach.
• Commitment to professional development and learning new skills.
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
