Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant you will play a vital role in supporting the financial operations of the company. Working closely with the Accounts Controller, you will assist in various tasks related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger maintenance and financial reporting. Your attention to detail, strong numerical skills, and ability to work efficiently will contribute to the smooth functioning of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

Recording Transactions: Enter financial transactions into the accounting system accurately and promptly. This includes invoices, payments, and receipts.

Accounts Payable and Receivable: This involves issuing invoices to customers, following up on overdue invoices and resolving payment discrepancies. Processing supplier invoices, maintaining records and reconciling statements.

General Ledger: Assist at month end and year end closing activities, reconcile bank and credit card transactions, maintain, and update General Ledger accounts.

Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports, compile data and assist in reconciling expenses, ensure compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the department, organize, and maintain financial records and documents, perform other duties and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualification in accounting, finance, bookkeeping or a related field.
  • Prior experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 Accounts and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail is crucial for accurately recording, reconciling, and identifying discrepancies.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and challenges.

Part-time hours - 15 hours per week - over 3 days - weekdays only
