HOURS:                    Up to 30 hours per week
                                 (9am – 5pm Monday -Thursday)
 
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with extensive knowledge supporting those with mixed Mental Health such as Depression, Anxiety, Personality Disorders, looking to take a step towards management. You will be supporting volunteers into the service, conducting recruitment, on-boarding, training, and general management to the volunteers.
 
Daily Duties  

  • Recruit, induct and support Volunteers, Peer Supporters and/or Peer Support Workers
  • Deliver training for Volunteers, Peer Supporters and/or Peer Support Workers
  • Manage and coordinate Volunteer and Peer Support activity across the service.
  • Attend regular team meetings to respond to peer supporter and volunteer needs within services i.e. recruitment, development of peer supporter and volunteer staff. Understand the demand for peer supporters and volunteers and promote the value peer supporters and volunteers can bring to service/service users.
  • Ensure that Peer Supporters, Volunteers and/or Peer Support Workers stay safe and that all aspects of health and safety are considered.
  • Keep up to date with Peer Support and Volunteering on the organisations intranet to ensure consistency in practice and use of resources.
  • Supervise Peer Support Volunteers and work in partnership with the line manager of the Peer Support Worker to support line management and professional development.
  • Develop, co-ordinate and co-facilitate self-management peer support groups as required.
  • Support Peer Support Volunteers and/or Peer Support Workers to meaningfully and actively be involved in the development and implementation of the peer support in the service.
  • Respond to requests directly from service users, and via staff, and support the allocation of Peer Support Volunteers and/or Peer Support Workers to service users who wish to access peer support.
  • Carry out risk assessment and safety planning with service users only receiving peer support.
  • Work closely with Service User Leadership Team to support the implementation of peer support and best practice.
  • Attendance at Community of Practice meetings with other Peer Support Co-ordinators across the organisation to support best practice and share learning.
  • Establish and maintain links with other service user organisations and keep up to date with developments in peer support.
  • Promote peer support within the service-to-service users, services and external agencies.
  • Draw on your own lived experience of mental distress in an appropriate way and act as a role model for those in peer roles.
  • Responsibility for volunteer supervision, expense payments and development
  • Work in partnership with service users, volunteers, staff in the service and the Service User Leadership Team to develop peer support and volunteering in the service.
  • Respond to requests directly staff, facilitate the allocation of Volunteers to areas of the service that can benefit from the involvement and contribution of volunteer support.
  • Undertake skills audits to fully understand and report on the range of skills in the current volunteer workforce and identify gaps.
  • Maintain effective records, including monitoring and evaluating of the outcomes of volunteering and peer support.
  • Work in partnership with the manager management team to compile data and case studies to enable accurate reporting in line with our service contract.
  • Undertake administrative duties using relevant IT equipment as required.
  • Undertake appropriate training relevant to your role.
  • Provide cover for Peer Supporters & Volunteers during absences.
  • Provide cover to the various areas of the service according to service need.
  • Commitment to working in accordance with the organisations Policies and Procedures, including Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, Confidentiality and Safeguarding.
 
Essential requirements
  • DBS within the last 12 months (must have original copy)
  • Extensive knowledge around Mental Health

  • Managing/directing volunteers
