Accounts Assistant

Fantastic opportunity to join a rapidly growing accounting services team within this highly professional and prestigious national accountancy firm who are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support clients with financial accounts preparation work. You will work in the firm's very impressive Central Birmingham offices collaborating with colleagues in the wider accounting services team in other parts of the country.


Your new role
In this role, you will work within a well-established, successful team providing privately owned businesses and small corporate clients from a range of sectors with personal and business-related financial support. This will involve preparing statutory accounts for partnerships, sole traders and trusts. Additionally, you may get involved in preparing management accounts, VAT returns and processing financial information for clients. The portfolio includes an interesting mix of clients, including a number of large agricultural businesses and rural landed estates. You will build good relationships with clients with regular communication and, on occasion, will visit client sites. You will also work effectively with colleagues in the team and in other areas of the firm, such as the tax team, to coordinate services efficiently.


What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate for this role will be progressing with AAT (ideally at L3 or beyond) or ACCA qualifications and will have gained prior experience working within an accountancy practice preparing statutory accounts. Good systems skills using a range of accounting packages and excellent written and verbal communication skills will be key. You must be able to demonstrate clear knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principals and awareness of financial reporting standards.
