Finance Assistant

The starting salary for this position is £14.86 per hour plus £2.23 per hour annual leave allowance. This is pro-rata to £27,897 per annum.

We are excited to be hiring a new Finance Assistant to join our fantastic Children's Finance team based at Woodhatch Place in Reigate. This role is offered as a bank contract, joining our current pool of bank workers.

About the team

The Children's Finance team provide co-ordinated and comprehensive financial support throughout the Directorate in accordance with council and directorate financial procedures. We are a growing transactional finance team who work collaboratively with team members to provide a high quality and efficient finance service. We help facilitate the Directorate's budget planning and monitoring activities to enable the delivery of cost effective services to the communities we support.

About the role

As a Finance Assistant you will be part of a team that is at the centre of children's services in Surrey, driving change and innovation with a relentless focus on improving outcomes for children and their families. This position will work closely with the team to undertake routine financial functions, including LIFT, Unit4, ContrOCC, Excel and assist in the accountancy cycle of transitional finance.

Shortlisting criteria

To be considered for shortlisting for this position, your application will clearly evidence the following:

  • Excellent organisational, analytical and administrative skills with some transactional finance experience
  • Excellent IT Skills (Word, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including diplomacy and discretion
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team and experience supporting colleagues in a similar setting
  • Exceptional attention to detail
