Our client, a fire and rescue service has a number of permanent & temporary opportunities available within their Prevention department for Fire Community Safety Officers, based across sites in South Yorkshire.

Contract: 1.5fte Permanent, 0.5fte Temporary
Salary: Grade 4 (£24,294 - £25,979)
Hours: 37 hours - full time, 18.5 hours - part time
Work Pattern: Monday - Thursday 08:30 - 16:30 Hours, Friday 08:30 - 16:00 Hours
Location: Various sites across South Yorkshire

The overall purpose of the role will be to deliver an effective prevention programme to the communities of South Yorkshire in line with the prevention strategy. This will be done through community engagement focusing on Fire, Road and Water Safety.

To be considered for this role you will have previous experience of:

  • Dealing with members of the public, providing guidance and advice face to face
  • The promotion of a safer community via community education and intervention
  • Working with a high degree of autonomy with minimum supervision
  • Administration duties

You must possess:

  • A full UK driving licence

The key duties will include:

  • Carrying out Home Fire Safety visits to the diverse communities of South Yorkshire
  • Delivering Fire Setter Interventions for children and young people
  • Delivering education package within schools up to Key Stage 4
  • Promote and deliver community safety messages to the public at fetes, galas and other community events

New starters will commence on the bottom of the salary grade and will receive increases to the top of the grade on an incremental basis. The Service offer 28 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus Bank Holidays. Annual leave increases after 5 years’ service to 32 days, followed by an extra day a year up to a maximum of 37 days.
