Senior Financial Analyst

Job Purpose

  • Responsible for key financial analysis for both operating and project activities on a timely, incorporating all UK entities, multi-locations and across all business units including Insurance, Home Finance, Wealth Management and Asset Management and Shared Services functions including presentation to Executive senior management for the UK Division.
  • Using strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the UK division businesses to manage a robust and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual analysis of financial data including presentation to Executive senior management for the UK Division incorporating all entities, locations, businesses, and functions.
  • Production of timely, relevant, and reliable management and board information for the UK Division and all respective UK entities and businesses derived from a single "version of the truth", applying finance acumen and understanding of the UK Division business, in order to support the UK and Great-West Lifeco (GWL) management to make sound business decisions.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of analytical reports that serve as summary information for senior leadership team (SLT) and business partners. Analyse actual costs and variance against budget, and ensure senior management are fully informed.
  • Develop appropriate MI to show true key performance indicators for SLT. Responsible for the periodic preparation of reports covering functional areas and analysis of data critical to the business.
  • Determine costs of operations by establishing standard costs and collecting operational data.
  • Responsible for identifying relevant insights and compiling analytical reports that enable SLT to make sound decisions
  • Responsible for monthly financial MI packs and associated processes
  • Establishing and enforcing policies and procedures, providing trends and forecasts, explaining processes, and recommending actions
  • Analyses expenses, monitors variance, identifies trends, recommends actions to management team and SLT.

  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the needs of the business. Will be able to apply technical accounting techniques and understand business/commercial implications
  • Understand complex data and information with the ability to interpret and recommend commercially astute courses of action; constructively challenging and helping develop others' thinking and understanding.
  • Proven ability to lead projects, to deliver on-time, in-full.
Communication
  • Strong communication skills, demonstrating a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal communication in a complex environment, tailored for all levels of management.
  • Strong ability to adapt messages to the audience in a format that is easily understood by non-technical colleagues

  • The ability to develop and maintain strong relationships across the finance function, acting with integrity and always role-modelling the company values.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain a variety of relationships with multiple stakeholders,
