Seattle, WA ( connect2business.co.uk ) October 4, 2013 - With age, many of us will experience the appearance of facial creases around the eyes, cheeks, or temples. While normal, these facial creases can negatively impact your appearance and lower your confidence. Fortunately, Dr. Jennifer Reichel of Pacific Dermatology & Cosmetic Center in Seattle explains that there are plenty of methods to restore areas surrounding the eyes, giving you a fresher, more vibrant appearance.

"As we age, we lose areas of natural fat within the face, which can cause a sunken or hollowed appearance," says Dr. Reichel, "I encourage my patients to explore the option of a liquid face lift, as a way to restore this lost volume. The liquid face lift can be performed on its own, or combined with liposuction. My favorite way of performing this procedure is to use the patient's own fat as filler. This is known as a fat transfer. "

"Using fat as filler is extremely natural," Dr. Reichel continues, "Fat is the same consistency as your own facial tissue, and injecting it restores fullness to your face. Most importantly, patients do not need to worry about any allergic reactions."

"A fat transfer is performed by removing fat from one area of your body and injecting it into a desired area," Dr. Reichel says of the procedure, "Most commonly, the fat is taken from the thighs or abdomen. The area from which the fat is taken is cleaned and anesthetized. Next, fat is extracted using a cannula- a narrow metal tube attached to a syringe. Fat is collected and purified in the syringe for injection. The treatment area is then numbed with a local anesthetic, and the fat filler is massaged into place. Prior to the procedure, we give patients pain medication and a light sedative to make them as comfortable as possible."

Following the treatment, the area around the injection site may look swollen for about a week, though Dr. Reichel notes that side effects are rare with a liquid face lift. "Many of my patients return to normal activities immediately," she says, "Treatments are usually done every three months, although some results are permanent. My patients love that the liquid face lift not only makes them feel and look younger, but also that it restores their confidence."

Patients in and around the Seattle area are encouraged to schedule a consultation with Dr. Reichel at (206) 859-5777 or http://www.pacificdermcenter.com.
