Chatham, Kent ( connect2business.co.uk ) May 15, 2013 - Cape training legend Dean Kannemeyer has tasted glory in the Durban July on two occasions and the handler will be looking for a third success on July 6th.

Kannemeyer will be relying on stable star Capetown Noir and followers of the horse remain confident that the superstar can fly into the winner's enclosure in South Africa's richest race.

The Durban July remains one of South Africa's greatest sporting events and Kannemeyer has trained Dynasty (2003) and Eyeofthetiger (2006) to glory in the race already.

Now Capetown Noir will bid to add his name to a roll of honour which stretches longer than Greyville racecourse itself, but he'll need to bounce back to form after his defeat in the KRA Guineas recently.

Capetown Noir had been a well fancied runner in the Classic and not too many people had seen the Cape Guineas and Investec Cape Derby winner being turned over. However, eventual winner Vercungetorix had too much in his locker and the Silvano colt will be looking to confirm the form next month.

Followers of Capetown Noir will look to a lack of luck in running for the reason behind his defeat at Greyville, but the bookmakers currently have Vercungetorix as their market leader and another enthralling contest looks in store.

The R3.5 million Vodacom Durban July is South Africa's greatest horseracing event and takes place on the first Saturday in July at Greyville

The race is one of eight feature races run at Greyville with the action starting before midday and continues into the evening under the floodlights. Attendance on the day regularly hits 50,000 but millions more watch on television and it continues to be a race to savour.

The question for viewers all over the world will now be whether or not Capetown Noir has what it takes to reverse the form with his KRA Guineas conqueror and all eyes will be on the Durban July gallops on Thursday 27th June.

Race fans will get to see the two challengers put through their paces there and you'll be able to follow all the latest news and views ahead of the race at Durban-July.com.
