Associate - Commercial Litigation Solicitor

Our client is expanding their Commercial Litigation team within their larger Complex Litigation function. This team is known for its expertise in handling intermediate and multi-track commercial claims across a broad spectrum of policyholders. They are seeking an experienced Associate with extensive knowledge in all aspects of court litigation, from inception to trial, including mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Run an autonomous caseload, collaborating closely with other Associates, and Senior Associates to ensure the highest standard of service.
  • Share knowledge and best practices within the team and the wider management group.
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases, ensuring disputes are resolved commercially via courts, mediation, or ADR techniques.
  • Conduct early assessments of the prospects of success for each claim, managing them in accordance with our client’s legal expenses insurance policy requirements.
  • Maintain cost-effectiveness in case management, focusing on efficient case handling while ensuring good customer outcomes.
  • Investigate and respond to complaints or escalate them as appropriate, ensuring customers receive the best level of care and advice.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven expertise in handling a caseload of consumer and/or commercial contract litigation.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of applicable legal claims and case management requirements.
  • Clear understanding of the CPR and costs related to the area of work.
  • Strong understanding of the SRA Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver high-quality performance against deadlines, KPIs, targets, and SLAs.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proactive approach to managing your own caseload to a very high standard.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage numerous commitments simultaneously.
  • Demonstrable ability to make sound commercial decisions while delivering excellent client care.
