We’re supporting them in their search for a Finance and Office Manager, a pivotal role in their organisation, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and strong financial stewardship.

About Horsham Matters

Horsham Matters is more than just a food bank – it’s a community lifeline. The charity provides vital support through food distribution, household essentials, budgeting advice and energy guidance to those facing hardship. Their mission is simple yet powerful: to ensure that no one in our community faces hardship alone.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management:

  • Liaise with third-party finance providers to produce accurate monthly management accounts
  • Monitor expenditure against the budget and report on variances
  • Produce and present monthly and quarterly financial reports for the CEO and Trustees
  • Ensuring the quarterly VAT returns are prepared accurately
  • Prepare cash flow forecast and manage liquidity
  • Support annual budgeting, audits and statutory filings
  • Ensure effective risk management, financial controls and compliance
  • Oversee Gift Aid claims and manage funder reporting

Payroll & HR:

  • Oversee payroll processing through external providers, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Support HR administration, including maintaining records on BreatheHR and assisting with recruitment and onboarding

Administration & Operations:

  • Oversee daily administrative operations, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Manage supplier relationships and third-party service providers

Leadership:

  • Line manage the Administration Team, conducting appraisals and supporting development
  • Foster a motivated and high-performance culture
  • Lead by example with professionalism, empathy and accountability

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in financial management and reporting
  • Previous experience leading teams
  • Being qualified or part-qualified is advantageous
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Proactive and a hands-on approach

Salary & Benefits:

  • £40,000 - £41,000 (FTE)
  • Part-time working hours Monday to Friday, 09.00 – 13.00 (20 hours per week)
