Senior Practice Accountant (Part or Full Time)

The Role

Barber McLelland is working exclusively with an expanding local independent firm of chartered accountants, who are recruiting for an experienced Senior Practice Accountant on either a part-time (25+ hours) or full-time basis.

The business has experienced excellent growth in 2025 and has significant plans to continue this into next year. The firm supports a diverse portfolio of clients, mainly small to medium-sized owner-managed businesses, providing innovative accounting, business advisory and taxation services.

Due to the firm's flexible working pattern, they can offer flexibility in start and finish times, along with the option to split time equally between the office and working from home.

Duties and Responsibilities

Working alongside a small yet highly experienced team of accountants, the Senior Accountant will support a diverse portfolio of clients. Duties will include:

• Preparation of statutory accounts
• Client Bookkeeping
• Preparation of management accounts
• Preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
• Preparation of VAT
• Provide support to clients, assisting in answering day-to-day queries

Skills and Qualities

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience working within a firm of accountants. Potentially newly qualified ACA/ACCA through to individuals who have decided not to take formal accountancy qualifications.

The ability to prepare statutory accounts with minimal supervision is essential.

Remuneration

• Salary - Circa £35,000 (FTE)
