Part-Time Practice Accountant

Are you an experienced Accounts Producer with a solid understanding of tax and a keen eye for detail?

Our client, a friendly and flexible accountancy practice in the Cheshire area, is looking for someone like you to join their team.

This role offers the chance to work in a supportive, family-friendly environment, with the option to blend office-based and home working once established.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accounts for business partners and senior managers
  • Handle occasional ad-hoc client requests, particularly assisting with record-keeping and accounting support
  • Manage clients accounts, including working with partnerships, limited companies, and agricultural clients
  • Assist with specific industry tasks such as herd basis, profit averaging, and stock valuations (support available for agricultural tasks)

What We Offer:

  • Flexible Working Hours: We are happy to accommodate a start date between February and April, or earlier if available and depending on your notice period. The role requires a minimum of 3 days per week, with flexibility on additional hours during busy periods (May to Christmas). Time in lieu will be granted in March/April
  • Family-Friendly Options: If you have children of school age, then there is the option to work additional hours during term-time and take time off during school holidays. This flexibility helps you manage both work and family commitments
  • Home Working Flexibility: Initially office-based, but once you're up to speed, you will have the option to work from home for up to half of the working week
  • Competitive Salary: £34k - £38k pro-rata (full-time equivalent), based on experience
  • Supportive Team: As part of a small, close-knit team, you'll be encouraged to take ownership of your role while benefiting from support when needed

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience in accounting/bookkeeping with a reasonable knowledge of tax
  • Comfortable working with a range of clients, including farmers (experience with herd basis, profit averaging, and stock valuations is a bonus)
  • A proactive team player who can work independently after initial training
  • Familiarity with Iris accounts and tax software is preferred, but not essential
