Are you a passionate cook with a desire to meet high standards and deliver quality food. Perhaps you have worked in a similar role in a nursery or have become fed up of working in the hospitality industry and working unsociable hours and want a change.

We are advertising for a cook for the six residents, to work in our Specialist Autism Service in Ulverston. The successful applicant will be required to work 25 hours per week Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9.30am – 2.30pm, free on- site parking and we are on a main public transport route with a short 10 minute walk to the train station.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wishes to work Part–Time and school-time hours.

Please do note we prepare all out meals from start to finish and do not subscribe to heating up ready meals and as such the successful person would need to be able to cook homely and nutritious meals.

All appointments will be subject to pre-employment checks inclusive of a DBS enhanced disclosure and ISA check.

Requirements:

• Confidence engaging with residents and support staff, to create appetising and nutritious menus.
• A good understanding of nutrition and healthy balanced diets
• Excellent English language skills
• Food Hygiene level 2 certificate
• Minimum of one years’ experience in a similar role
• A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of each resident
• Carrying out shopping activities in line with pre-planned menu’s which change on a weekly basis.
• Preparing two choices of nutritious, healthy well-presented meals for residents in the service
• Ensure that the highest standards of food quality, safety and hygiene standards are maintained
• Ensure excellent record keeping of items purchased and cooked, cleaning and temperature checks will need to be recorded as necessary on a daily, weekly, monthly basis as required
• To keep up-to-date records of all items issued and to be responsible when stocks need to be re-ordered
