A leader in their field, this is a great opportunity to join the business at a critical times in their expansion (the role can be remote with occasional meetings).

THE JOB:

The job is to become the boards 'critical friend’, bringing an external perspective to the firm, a fresh pair of eyes that challenges the status quo, bringing rigour to decision-making and strengthening existing leadership and management.

It is also to help develop, refine and articulate the firm’s strategy.

The business is at an 'interesting’ juncture. It wishes to continue to grow and will face a number of challenges as a result through both scale and complexity. Foremost among these will be attracting and retaining the right people and ensuring that the people they have (and those yet to join) have or can develop the skills needed to fulfil their changing roles. Questions such as 'What skills does the leadership team lack and can those be skills be developed (for example by training and/or mentoring) or will they need to be bought in?’, and 'What will the business look like in five years?’ need addressing now.

It is envisaged that you would spend 1-2 days per month in this role, perhaps after an initial burst of activity.

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• 
  Previous experience as the ultimate decision maker and leader of an accountancy practice, law firm or similar professional services firm of perhaps 50 or 200 people.
• You will have grown the business and enjoyed doing so but are now retired or planning for retirement.
• You would enjoy being involved at the most senior level with an ambitious professional practice and helping it address the issues that growth brings
• You have been there and done it a would like to share your experience helping others embarking on a similar journey. You can help them to avoid "reinventing the wheel".
