Management Accountant (Part Time) | Derby | £40,000 - £45,000 (FTE) | 24hrs per week

Macildowie Finance are currently supporting a long-standing, well-known business within its sector to recruit a part-time Management Accountant into their team. Working from their site in Derby, this position reports directly to the Financial Controller, with exposure to the wider leadership team. This is a newly created role due to recent growth of the business, requiring additional Management Accounts support.

This is an interesting opportunity for the right candidate as you will be pivotal in preparing the monthly Management Accounts as well as assisting with other financial reporting, forecasting and analysis tasks. The parent group is often acquiring new businesses so there is potential for this role to grow into something bigger in the long term. This business is extremely fast-paced so experience within an FMCG/ manufacturing setting is important - you will be working in offices above the warehouse so being used to this type of environment is key.

What is the job?

• Prepare monthly management accounts to draft level.
• Develop reports for financial efficiencies, incorporating relevant KPIs and suggesting improvements.
• Monthly reconciliation of the nominal ledger, focusing on critical Balance Sheet items.
• Monitor and actively participate in day-to-day financial operations, including Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, and Daily banking, ensuring accurate bank reconciliations.
• Play a pivotal role in daily/weekly payment runs, contributing to smooth financial transactions.
• Collaborate with the Financial Controller in business planning, budgeting, and preparing cost analyses and overhead forecast reports.
• Assist in the Year-end audit process to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Manage the Claims ledger, keeping processes up-to-date and ensuring accuracy.
• Support the Financial Controller in optimising resource utilisation within the accounts department.
• Provide training and support to existing accountancy staff, fostering a collaborative team environment.
• Assist in reducing and controlling Debtors and Creditors to maintain financial health.
• Contribute to completing month end/period end processes on the system.
• Step in to provide holiday cover for the Financial Controller, ensuring continuity.
• Prepare monthly VAT returns, EC Sales reports, and conduct daily bank reconciliations.

What are you like?

• At least AAT L4 Qualified or QBE
• You have experience in a fast-paced industry (FMCG, manufacturing, wholesale etc.)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive and detail-oriented approach.
• Advanced knowledge of Excel
• Experience of SAP is desirable but not necessary.
