SEN Teaching Assistant

Southern Education Recruitment are working with a SEN school in Tonbridge who are looking for Teaching Assistants to join their growing team.

The school caters for children and young people with profound, severe, and complex needs, many of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum across primary and secondary ages. The Teaching Assistant position will be within early years and primary, however you may be asked to help support in secondary when required. A flexible approach to work is a must.

The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate belief in the school culture and ethos, have a passion for working with children and young people with special needs as well as creativity and energy. Applicants need to be robust and dedicated, and whilst this can be challenging, it is ultimately very rewarding.

Candidates will ideally have/be:

  • Professional and caring individual
  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to work on own initiative
  • Able to work with all age groups
  • Must be comfortable with personal care (toileting)
  • Moving and handling (incl. hoists) - this would be beneficial but not essential
  • Experience working within an SEN setting is beneficial but not essential

The role:

  • SEN Teaching Assistants
  • Full-Time - Monday to Friday 08:30 - 15:30
  • Start date: As soon as feasibly possible
  • Duration: Long term, on-going (potential to apply for permanent position)
  • Hourly Rate: £12.31pr hr (£80 per day) + holiday pay accrual on top

  • Be able to commit to working the hours specified above.
  • Provide an enhanced DBS registered on the update service. If you do not hold a valid DBS be willing to apply for a new DBS. The cost of a DBS is a one-off payment of £38 with an annual subscription of £13 per year to the DBS Update Service.
  • If you have been a UK resident for less than 5 years, a right to work visa must be provided and a criminal background check certificate must be provided for any country resided in for 6 months or more within the past 5 years.
