Exciting opportunity to be Financial Controller of a successful and growing distribution and trading company.

About the role:

We are recruiting for an individual to join and run the finance team of a soon to acquired distribution and trading company. We are an international company operating in the media and events sector.

As FC you will be reporting directly into the Board, and working week to week with the Managing Director. You will be running all finance aspects of the company, as well as interacting with the operations of the business.

This is a new role for the business to replace an exiting director and because the board are looking for a some finance focused resource to support the business as it grows. In addition to financial reporting you will be driving business change and improving financial processes.

We anticipate this role will require 2 to 3 days a week commitment, which could be taken as half days throughout the week or 2 or 3 full days. This could be an ideal role for an experienced FC looking to reduce their hours.

Job role:

  • Deliver accurate, timely and comprehensive reporting of financial information including monthly financial accounts and associated analysis, year-end accounts and consolidation.
  • Be 'on-site' manager and senior team representative for staff and operations.
  • Produce and present forecasts and budgets to the Board.
  • Input and (with the MD) authorise bank payments and complete bank recs.
  • Manage a weekly cashflow forecast and authorise bank payments.
  • Oversee all accounting functions in the business including invoicing entries, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, journals and bank payments.
  • Effectively manage and control all aspects of working capital.
  • Liaise and prepare year end information for external auditors.
  • Work with the management of each business to improve KPI reporting and assist management in making better decisions.
  • Day to day operational management of funding relationship.

Experience

  • Qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Displaying the strength of a manager, someone who understands how to grow and improve an SME.
  • Good knowledge of statutory obligations, tax, VAT and statutory accounts.
  • The commercial aptitude to evaluate and problem solve effectively.
  • The business uses Xero, so experience with this is preferred.

  • Close attention to detail.
  • Entrepreneurial and able to take ownership.
  • Able to manage responsibility from day 1.

This is an office base role.
