Payroll & Accounts Administrator

This is a part-time role working 21 hours per week (flexible hours, office-based) £26,000 (pro-rata £15,600).

PAYROLL ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Undertake end to end processing of monthly payroll
  • Process new starters and leavers
  • Process absences
  • Process payroll deductions, ad hoc payments, tax code changes and generate P45s, P46s
  • Process and input timesheets
  • Deal with correspondence from HMRC and administer statutory payments and deductions
  • Carry out the final stages of monthly payroll
  • Prepare monthly analysis of payroll recharges
  • Carry out investigations and resolution of pay queries
  • Carry out yearend payroll routines, salary review administration
  • Prepare quarterly reconciliations and exception reports
  • Prepare ad hoc payroll reports for record keeping

ACCOUNTING ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Input supplier invoices and credit notes into the purchase ledger system
  • Ensure that invoices are approved
  • Reconcile supplier statements against purchase ledger and investigate any discrepancy or queries
  • Monitor and investigate the log of invoices and expense claims that have remained unapproved for a considerable period and escalate
  • Deal with supplier and expense payment queries and escalate issues as required
  • Prepare the initial selection for payment runs based on the aged creditor analysis,
  • Support the quarter-end and year-end close processes

Excellent interpersonal and payroll administrative skills, an eye for detail and exceptionally well organised. You will be a great team player but able to work well autonomously. You will be comfortable taking personal responsibility for your work. You will have an aptitude for continuous learning and development.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience of end-to-end payroll administration and processing working to strict deadlines, resolving queries and dealing with HMRC
  • Hold or are working towards AAT or similar qualification
  • Experience of working in a Finance team with exposure to purchase ledger and broad administration dealing with suppliers and employees
  • Experience of using computerised payroll software, including Sage, Iris-Earnie, Miracle, Sirius or Xero
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word and MS Teams
  • Good planning and organising skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to use own initiative, but also to work as a team.
