Group VAT Manager

Your new company
My client is a global brand within the leisure industry, known for its design, production and manufacture of products, mainly equipment and apparel, to its customer base across the world. They are regularly developing new products, which leads to a dynamic, fast-paced and evolving business. A position is available within their finance team for a VAT Manager to own and continue to develop its indirect tax policy across the UK and EMEA Group.

Your new role
You will:

  • Prepare, review & submit VAT returns and European Sales Lists for EU & Non-EU jurisdictions, ensuring submission of returns for European returns within deadlines
  • Review Intrastat reports and prepare Intrastat returns
  • Reconcile GL sales to reported VAT sales, including monthly GL reconciliations and monthly GL Journals
  • Code import VAT and duty invoices.
  • Prepare and monitor tax reporting requirements for EU Branches
  • Act as main point of contact with EU advisors for branch tax matters
  • Review activity of EU Branches to ensure compliance with Transfer Pricing policy
  • Act in an advisory capacity to the business with regard to Indirect Taxes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that VAT is correctly accounted for on all transactions.
  • Proactively support IT team to maintain VAT matrix, VAT rules and VAT rate codes. Responsible for all testing and migration of systematic ERP changes in respect of all VAT matters.
  • Take the lead on VAT projects and improvement initiatives in line with the overall Finance Strategy.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant, or an ATT qualified or experienced Tax Accountant, who has demonstrable knowledge and experience of managing indirect tax compliance and advisory aspects, Intrastat Returns, EC Sales Lists across UK and European remits. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders and external advisors alike.
