About The Job

Salary: £15,878 - £16,403 (FTE £23,500 - 23,893)

Working Pattern: Part time 25 hours (Monday - Friday)

Contract Length: Permanent

About Burnside Day Opportunity Hub

We provide a Day Opportunity Service providing person-centred support for people over the age of 18. We support people who have a variety of care and support needs such as learning and or physical disability, autism and older people living with dementia.

Burnside is a vibrant, friendly environment that offers a wide range of opportunities to the people we support. This includes an accessible training kitchen, sensory and computer suites as well as a drama studio.

We are passionate about linking the individuals we support with their local community in a safe and fun way. Some of the activities we support community engagement within are Gym, Football, Tidy Town and Steps and Sights.

About You

To become a Support Worker with us you will be:

* Passionate about supporting people to be the best they can be.

* Bring a passion, or skill to the team that you can spark some excitement with the people we care for it can be anything at all from baking, to bird watching, to crafting. We are always looking to inspire people & would love to see what you could bring to the team.

* Supporting people to have the opportunities to learn and grow.

* A good listener, patient and treat all with respect, kindness and dignity.

* Ensure people have opportunity to be involved in/Co-produce every aspect of their care and support.

* Support people to maintain friendships/relationships important to them and to make new friendships/relationships.

* If you are a driver this is a bonus as we like to get out with the residents in our minibus as much as possible.

*Please note that a vital element of this role is moving some of those we care for in wheelchairs and aiding them into our vehicles to join the outings. This is a very physical element of the role and we do as many outings as we can to provide variety and community connection to those we care for.

Qualifications / experience

* Adult Care Worker - Level 2 or equivalent is desirable. If you do not have this qualification it is expected that you will begin this immediately after your 6-month probationary period.

* Basic literacy and numeracy skills in order to record and document activities.

* Basic knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedures, Moving and Handling of people is also desirable.

* UK full driving license - Desirable
