The Lecturer in Hairdressing role:

Are you an experienced and passionate hairdressing professional? Brighton Metropolitan College is seeking a Lecturer in Hairdressing to join our fantastic team and help shape our students’ future careers in this exciting industry.

This is a part time role of 14.8 hours per week, which would make a great additional role that enables you to share your knowledge with our students whilst continuing your career in the hairdressing industry. Our classes combine an exciting commercial salon environment with theory classes.

As a Lecturer in Hairdressing, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning to our engaged students. Your expertise and enthusiasm will ignite their passion for the hairdressing sector, equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed to excel. You will have creative and innovative ideas to ensure teaching, learning, and assessment is at a very high standard.

Key Responsibilities of ourLecturer in Hairdressing:

  • Undertaking teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed.
  • Ensuring that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Undertaking administration and provide reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters.
  • Taking an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each.
  • Developing curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity.
  • Understanding personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding.
  • Keeping up-to-date with current issues, changes, and policies relating to the educational sector.
  • Participating in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.

Our ideal Lecturer in Hairdressing should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 3 (or equivalent) in related subject
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy
  • Working knowledge of Hairdressing programme
  • Relevant industrial/commercial/subject experience
  • Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet targets and deadlines
  • Innovative and creative in meeting the needs of learners
  • To obtain an appropriate teaching qualification as defined by the Corporation
