Ely Riverside Officer – The Role:

As an Ely Riverside Officer, you will assist with the efficient operation of the Ely Riverside visitor moorings. You will provide advice to boaters on the amenities available, mooring arrangements and restrictions that apply, accurately record details of boats moored and issue Mooring Charge Notices. In addition, you will report any defects or improvements required to the overall environment and appearance of the Riverside.

This is a part time post for an average of 5.25 hours per week to be worked on a 2 weekly rota system, (1.5 hours per day to be worked 9.00 am to 10.30 am) as follows:

Week 1: Monday – Wednesday

Week 2: Thursday – Sunday

Ely Riverside Officer – Key Responsibilities:

- Daily monitoring patrols of the Ely Riverside Moorings managed by the District Council

- Providing advice to boaters on the mooring regime and possible enforcement actions that could be undertaken if not complied with

- Issuing Mooring Charge Notices (MCNs) to anyone overstaying the specified period of visitor mooring

- Providing a copy of any MCNs issued to the Communities and Partnerships Support Officer on the day of issue

- Maintaining pocket book entries to be used as the basis for writing a witness statement as evidence for court action if necessary

- Taking photographs of boats that have overstayed and submitting those as evidence if the - MCN is not paid

- To attend Court as required to support prosecutions

Ely Riverside Officer – You:

- Strong communication skills

- Experience dealing with the public in a calm, tactful, and diplomatic manner

- Good administrative skills

- Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace

- Understanding of good customer care and be able to deal with confrontational situations calmly and professionally

- Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word)

- Physically capable of patrolling Ely Riverside Moorings and using handheld equipment for recording details

- Willingness to maintain up-to-date knowledge of mooring management best practice

- Good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships

- Ability to react to weather warnings and suspend enforcement according to the Council’s Severe Weather Enforcement Protocol
