Learning support assistant

We are seeking to appoint a part time Learning support assistant (LSA) for a unique opportunity to work in a hospital-based school for 12 young people aged 11-17 with eating disorders. We are looking for someone to start before the May half term.

We are looking for someone to work 22 hours per week (flexibility within these hours can be considered for the appropriate candidate) who is passionate and highly motivated to achieve the best outcomes for the young people and join the school to help create an outstanding centre of education.

As a learning support assistant, you will provide on-hand support to teachers as they design and deliver classroom lessons. This will see you assist in the preparation for these lessons, ensuring that the classroom has all the materials required and supporting pupils to engage in the syllabus.

You will be able to think creatively and build a strong rapport with the cohort, encouraging engagement and support with their learning, behaviour, and social skills progression.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Education-related qualifications

• Previous experience of working with children in a school setting.

• Excellent literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills

• Hobbies/interests/skills that contribute to a wide curriculum offering

• Experience of working with young people with SEMH needs and/or SEN

• The ability to identify and implement interventions to ensure that students engage in lessons and make progress

• Resilience, flexibility, and be adaptable in the approach to meet the needs of each individual

• The ability to empathise and engage easily with young people, offering appropriate and professional support at all times
