We are currently for a part-time Payroll & HR Officer for our client who are a group of children's day nurseries throughout the midlands. This position is based at the Head Office in Duston, Northamptonshire.

An exciting opportunity for somebody with a good working knowledge of running payroll and using these systems (SAGE is a preference) and a basic HR knowledge including reporting, processes and terminology. Due to the nature of the role, a high degree of confidentiality is required; you will need a flexible approach and a desire to work as part of a small team, supporting others when required. This role requires you to act with limited supervision and effectively communicate with others.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Competent and experienced use of SAGE payroll, taking full responsibility for and ensuring timely delivery of an accurate monthly payroll for 140+ employees; gathering and checking data via timesheets, making calculations as required such as starters and leavers, inputting information for SSP, SMP, SPP, benefits, pension contributions etc, running payroll, issuing payslips etc.
  • Adhering to internal payroll procedures, while complying with relevant legislation
  • Preparing and providing all payroll and pension monthly related journals to Accounts for posting
  • Ensuring all statutory and voluntary payroll deductions are paid to external bodies and that appropriate record systems are maintained
  • Identifying, investigating, and resolving any discrepancies
  • Providing monthly, annual and ad hoc reporting, including statutory reporting
  • Payroll year end
  • Managing and overseeing the auto-enrolment into the pension scheme
  • Reviewing and improving the payroll processes and payroll controls to ensure the continued timely and accurate completion of the monthly payroll, remaining compliant with the latest relevant legislation and statutory filing deadlines
  • Providing a high-quality service across the employee's engagement with the company
  • Administering the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring all records are up to date and comply with legislation
  • Daily HR support to management, processing all employee engagement requirements and responding promptly to any enquiries
  • Administering compliance processes for all new starters
  • Preparing HR related correspondence in relation to contractual changes and termination documents
  • Producing standard monthly reports as required
  • Support on all HR projects as required
  • Requisition of staff uniform, badges and related items
