Housekeeping Supervisor - 30 hours per week

Compton House Nursing Home, situated in the heart of Lindfield village, provides care for up to 25 elderly residents with physical nursing needs. We are now seeking a Housekeeping Supervisor to continue to provide leadership, support and motivation to the housekeeping and laundry teams to ensure we maintain our high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and comfort throughout all areas of the Home.

The role:

To ensure that high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and infection control are maintained at all times throughout Compton House and Little Compton. Work with other departments to deliver high quality service to residents, relatives, visitors and other members of staff.

To ensure that all Housekeeping cleaning schedules and protocols are up to date, reviewed regularly, and meet the requirements of the Home. Ensure that accurate records and checklists are completed daily by all members of the housekeeping and laundry team.

Ensuring that cleaning materials are used correctly, COSHH principles and regulations are followed and the COSHH data sheets are updated with any change of product.

Supervise housekeeping and laundry staff on a daily basis and keep them updated with any relevant information. To maintain effective communication with all staff, the management team and suppliers.

To be prepared to work on Bank Holidays, Christmas and Easter.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Carry out cleaning shifts, in line with the housekeeping assistant duties and protocols, as indicated by the housekeeping staff rota.
  • To liaise with the Administration Manager to ensure that the housekeeping duty rota and laundry is covered with the correct number of trained staff allocated to all shifts. To arrange cover of shifts due to unplanned absences.
  • To be responsible for orientating new housekeeping staff into their role, carrying out relevant induction and job specific training. Liaise with the Administration Manager regarding timely probationary reviews.
  • To supervise the housekeeping and laundry team ensuring that their duties are carried out to the required standard.
  • To carry out regular spot checks and audits and promptly take appropriate actions to address any issues identified.
  • To conduct quarterly supervisions and annual appraisals with the housekeeping and laundry team.
  • To be responsible for monitoring adequate stock levels, ordering and storing of non-medical nursing supplies, including those products governed by COSHH.
  • To ensure that the Homes Cleaning Schedules are followed and maintained on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, as required.
  • To plan and participate in regular Deep Cleaning of Residents Rooms and Communal Areas, including spillages and carpet cleaning and maintain up to date documentary evidence. To monitor and maintain furniture.
  • To liaise between housekeeping staff and the management team.
  • To review and reflect upon your own practice and the practice of those you Line Manage through participation in the Staff Supervision and Appraisal Procedure.
