The Fire and Rescue Service in Nottinghamshire is looking for a highly motivated and experienced professional to become an integral part of their Finance team.

As a Senior Accountancy Assistant, you will provide a comprehensive range of accounting and financial services to the service including accounting, budgeting and financial reporting. This is an exciting opportunity that will ensure you are at the forefront of keeping communities safe.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To reconcile the payroll transactions to the financial information system, to investigate variances, to input correcting journals and report explanations.
  • Formulation of financial reports, estimates and statistics as well as contributing towards the calculation of new budgets as required.
  • To maintain and produce all the Sales invoices for all income related to the service, ensuring that collection of debts is timely. Reporting to management potential bad debts and write off debts. Recording all levels of communication in the event of a small claim court case.
  • Write procedures relevant to this role and work flexibly in busy periods to ensure that duties are carried out on time.
  • At the financial year end, investigate balance sheets and analyse debtors and creditors while providing findings to external auditors.
  • Provide the Finance Department with cover on a variety of tasks commensurate with the role.


Experience/Qualification:

  • Experience working within a finance department and specialising in financial and management accounting.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to liaise with external advisors and stakeholders.
  • The ability to use Microsoft Office applications to an advanced level with a focus on Excel.
  • Attention to detail and an understanding of confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and concepts.
