Do you love delivering for customers? Are you intellectually curious with a passion for using data to drive great commercial outcomes? We’re looking for a Commercial Planning Manager to join the commercial team at E.ON Next.

The role will lead on commercial analysis and planning for Residential and Small business, creating clear and detailed customer number forecasts to deliver volume and value targets in line with the commercial strategy.

What you’ll do…

  • You’ll play a key role in supporting commercial strategy development, delivery of the commercial plan and in understanding performance - highlighting trends and impacts on commercial outcomes to ensure that E.ON Next delivers on its promises.

  • You’ll lead the creation of the customer number plan and own the mechanics and outputs of the customer number models.

  • You’ll use data led insight as well as reviewing external competitor and market activity to understand performance and ensure it is translated into well understand commercial action plans and targets that drive how we operate. Being able to understand customer behaviour and how it impacts on our commercial metrics is critical, as is excellent communication skills.

  • You will work closely with a number of areas of the business to create business cases to support the commercial direction of the business, whether that be partnership opportunities, retention strategy initiatives or any number of items that influence customer numbers and gross margin.

  • You’ll play a key role in managing the risk around changing customer numbers on energy volume purchasing.

  • It is imperative that you work closely with the other members of the analytical & data community, particularly within the commercial team and the data team, to ensure that the right commercial decisions are taken, and that successes and challenges are made transparent.

What we’re looking for…

  • An ambitious person with significant drive - outcome and performance oriented, with a desire to make a difference.

  • Exceptional analytical skills, able to utilise the right data to provide actionable insight. This is not just about playing back data, it is about providing meaningful insight in customer and commercial outcomes that drives continuous improvement in performance.

  • Financially literate, able to develop business cases & work closely with other financially literate teams. Experience of P&L management – gross margin in particular – to understand the shape of the financial outcome of commercial plans.

  • Passionate and open-minded and able to see the big picture while meticulous about data and details.

  • Strong communication skills, able to translate detailed analysis into simple, digestible insight & recommendations.

  • You’ll need previous experience in a commercial analytical role, comfortable utilising data to support & drive decision making.

  • A key part of this role will also be to build effective relationships with internal teams, you’ll need to be comfortable managing and engaging with a range of stakeholders.

  • Experience of leading and building analytical teams and coaching.

  • Working environment: Flexible hybrid working - strong support for flexibility but do expect regular face to face time with the team. Ideally 2 days per week.
