Part Time Bookkeeper

Our well established client based in Hertford are looking for a part time Bookkeeper on a permanent basis.

The role will be an all round position encompassing all aspects daily and monthly bookkeeping duties as well as preparing monthly management accounts and VAT returns.

The client is ideally looking for someone to work 3 full days per week, however they are very flexible to someone completing the hours over 4 or 5 days, whatever is more convenient to them.

The main duties:

  • All aspect of Bookkeeping - managing sales and purchase ledgers, credit control, completing bank and company credit card reconciliations via Sage.
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns
  • Accruals & prepayments
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Producing monthly profit & loss reports
  • Weekly cashflow forecasting
  • Producing monthly management accounts
  • Planning & Analysis - preparing forecasts and management reports
  • Helping to implement continuous improvement to our financial processes and controls to keep pace with business growth.
  • Payroll duties

Who we're looking for:

  • QBE or AAT studier approx 4 - 5 years’ experience
  • Hand on, small company mentality’ who is adaptable to change and team player is essential!
  • A self-starter who is comfortable working independently without daily face to face supervision
  • A confident communicator who is comfortable explaining financial issues to colleagues in other areas of the business and able to tailor communication style to different audiences
  • Attention to detail
  • Enthusiasm - energetic and enthusiastic to get job done
  • Hard working - takes responsibility in own work and has pride in end delivery
  • Proactivity - taking the initiative and getting things done without being told or chased
