My client is looking for a HR Generalist to provide comprehensive HR support services to their managers, ensuring legal compliance and best practice across all people-related matters. This role is crucial in supporting business needs by offering professional advice on employment law, HR policies, and systems, thereby driving employee engagement and operational efficiency.
Day-to-day of the role:
Ensure the organisation follows fair, transparent, and legally compliant HR practices at all times.
Support the business in mitigating employment risks by ensuring adherence to current legislation and best practices, and planning for future changes.
Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks to ensure legislative compliance and organisational alignment.
Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers on staff development and training needs, performance management, salary and pay reviews, and employee relations including disciplinaries, grievances, and disputes.
Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, ensuring equality, fairness, and compliance with employment law.
Oversee absence management processes, including return-to-work interviews, occupational health referrals, and proactive monitoring of sickness absence.
Promote and maintain HR practices that align with the organisation’s culture and values.
Maintain GDPR-compliant employee records and databases, ensuring appropriate and accurate file management.
Coordinate and administer Health and Safety activities in collaboration with the senior management team and board.
Provide accurate HR-related data to Finance for the payroll process for hourly-paid staff.
Undertake additional HR tasks and projects as requested, within the limits of training and capability.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proven experience in HR support or a similar role.
Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear and effective advice on a range of HR issues.
Experience managing recruitment campaigns and advising on selection decisions.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Proficient in HR systems and databases.
No direct budgetary responsibility but must understand the financial impact of HR decisions.
