Motor Vehicle Workshop Assistant

The School of Technical, Construction and Motor Vehicle at Carshalton College are seeking a Workshop Assistant to provide technician support in Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles.

You’ll carry out the maintenance of the workshops and equipment for Motor Vehicle and Motorcycles, maintain stock levels and maintain inventory, both equipment and materials. You’ll assist in stock control and manage the deliveries of Motor Vehicles and Motorcycles equipment and consumables and assist the academic staff and other technician staff to provide technician support in the stores and in the workshops.

We’re looking for someone with specialised experience in Motor Vehicle and/or Motorcycle or other relevant trade areas and who holds vocational qualifications or trade qualifications (at least Level 2 NVQ) in Motor Vehicle and/or Motorcycle. You’ll have experience providing technician support for a Motor Vehicle and/or Motorcycle Department (or similar environment) with working knowledge from a technician background.

Able to set up, monitor and maintain administrative systems, you’ll have an excellent understanding of Health and Safety and Welfare legislation with the ability to identify and implement improvements in existing systems. You’ll be able to communicate effectively at all levels, work under pressure and to strict deadlines, able to use initiative, organise and prioritise.

The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
