Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Doctor or Pharmacist Independent Prescriber to serve as our Clinical Escalation Lead, providing expert guidance across all treatments offered by Pharmica, with a particular focus on GLP-1 weight loss therapies. This pivotal role includes responsibility for clinical oversight, supervision, and escalation management, ensuring the delivery of a safe, effective, and compliant prescribing service.

For the prescribing teams, you will ensure accuracy when reviewing complex consultations, advising on borderline cases, and supervising clinical practice. You will also contribute to the professional development of prescribing staff through clinical supervision and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the central point of contact for clinical escalations, including complex or high-risk consultations across all therapeutic areas.
  • Provide specialist clinical leadership and decision-making support for GLP-1 receptor agonist treatments, ensuring safe, evidence-based prescribing.
  • Offer clinical supervision and oversight to prescribers and pharmacists, reviewing cases and supporting safe prescribing practices.
  • Conduct regular case reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical standards across the business.
  • Oversee and assist in developing protocols, prescribing pathways, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for both GLP-1 and general treatments.
  • Participate in and lead clinical audits, root cause analyses, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Investigate and respond to adverse reactions, safety concerns, and clinical complaints in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge across all therapeutic areas offered by Pharmica.
  • Support with mentorship of new and existing prescribers.

Skills and Requirements

  • GPhC with Independent Prescriber Qualification or GMC Registration
  • 3+ years of clinical experience, ideally in general practice, endocrinology, or community pharmacy
  • Proven experience with GLP-1 RA prescribing (e.g. Semaglutide, Liraglutide)
  • Broad clinical knowledge across areas including weight management, sexual health, dermatology, and lifestyle medicine
  • Experience in clinical supervision or team leadership
  • Familiarity with remote prescribing and online healthcare platforms
  • Strong communication, analytical, and clinical reasoning skills
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest levels of patient safety and compliance

Schedule

  • On-call support desirable
  • Flexibility for part-time or full-time arrangements

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Freelance, Zero hours contract

Pay: £25.00-£50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1 - 10 per week
