We are seeking a proactive and experienced Senior Credit Controller to lead credit management activities and support the business in maintaining healthy cash flow. You will play a pivotal role in overseeing the debtor ledger, engaging with clients to ensure timely payments, and collaborating cross-functionally to resolve queries and maintain strong relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Engage with clients via phone and email to ensure prompt payment and reduce debtor days.
Monitor and manage the debtor ledger, ensuring accurate account reconciliations.
Allocate incoming payments to customer accounts and resolve customer queries efficiently.
Prepare aged debt reports for internal stakeholders and provide regular updates to the Financial Controller.
Collaborate with Operations teams to resolve outstanding queries and maintain strong client relationships.
Set up new clients in the system and maintain up-to-date client records, including changes to billing or contact information.
Support month-end reporting and audit requirements as needed.
Review customer creditworthiness and recommend credit limits or holds where appropriate.
Lead or mentor junior credit control staff, sharing best practices and supporting their development.
Identify areas for improvement in credit control processes and help implement solutions to drive efficiency and accuracy.
Key Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in credit control, including senior or supervisory responsibilities.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities.
Confident using finance systems and Excel; experience with [insert system, e.g., Sage, SAP, or other relevant software] is advantageous.
Knowledge of credit management principles, customer risk assessment, and legal debt recovery processes.
Professional qualification (e.g., CICM or equivalent) preferred but not essential.
