Credit Controller - 30 hours a week

Synergem Recruitment is working exclusively with a growing business based in Leeds to recruit a Credit Controller. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about maintaining strong customer relationships while protecting cash flow.

The Role:

You’ll take ownership of the credit control function, ensuring payments are collected to agreed terms and aged debt is minimised. You’ll also play a key role in improving internal processes and supporting the wider accounts team when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively chase outstanding payments and manage the full debt recovery process
  • Work closely with Operational Managers to keep them informed of aged debt and risk
  • Allocate incoming cash and maintain accurate sales ledger records
  • Set up and manage new customer accounts
  • Resolve invoice queries with professionalism and a customer-first approach
  • Assist with general accounts support during peak times or staff absence
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in credit control practices

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in a credit control or sales ledger role
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Organised and detail-oriented with a proactive mindset
  • Able to work independently and manage own workload
  • Familiarity with accounting systems (Sage, Xero or similar) is advantageous
