Part-Time Maths Teacher - SEMH School

Location: Cranborne, Dorset

Salary: £25,320 - £34,885.60 (M1-M6) actual annual salary

Hours: 32 hours a week, Term Time Only (4 days per week, Monday-Thursday)

This SEMH school has students 11-16, and gives them the tools and opportunities to create the lives they want for themselves. With high-quality teaching, an excellent level of individual support and a range of expert-led, integrated therapy, they support all young people with a range of needs including Autism and other associated conditions. They can take advantage of their beautiful setting to inspire and create fun experiences to enhance learning and progress.

Your Skills/Qualifications/Experience:

• Essential: PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
• To be able to teach Entry level 2 & 3, and GCSEs in Maths
• Desirable: Experience of working in a college environment, ideally in specialist education.
• Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Good teaching and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Effective skills in planning, preparation, recording and reviewing students’ progress.
• Good IT skills and understand of how IT can be used to support learning.
• Ability to remain calm and reflective when working in a challenging environment.
• Proven ability to work on own initiative, be well organised, prioritise effectively and achieve results against deadlines.
• Ability to engage students in positive enabling relationships.

In this role, you’ll deliver engaging and high-quality Maths lessons up to GCSE level, helping students gain the academic and life skills they need for their next steps, whether that’s further education, training, or employment. Students can display challenging behaviours, so they’re looking for someone patient, resilient, and ready to build strong, supportive relationships.

You’ll collaborate closely with a multi-disciplinary team to create personalised learning plans, set meaningful goals, and contribute to important review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews. Alongside teaching, you'll help shape and develop the curriculum, keeping it fresh, relevant, and tailored to each student's needs.
